Congress has approved a measure to suspend the nation’s borrowing limit through March 2015. Labeled “The Temporary Debt Limit Extension Act,” the bill is now headed to President Barack Obama’s desk, where he is expected to sign it.
The Senate passed the bill Wednesday by a vote of 55 to 43 following approval by the House on Tuesday. That vote was 221 to 201. The S.C. Senate delegation voted against the measure. Most S.C. House members rejected it too, except for Rep. Jim Clyburn.
