    South Carolina’s unemployment rate declined to 8.6 percent in October down from 9.1 percent a month earlier, according to a news release this week by the S.C. Department of Employment and workforce.

    The national jobless rate inched from 7.8 percent to 7.9 percent in September. The S.C. DEW cited an increase in the labor force as a contributing factor.
